Joy is much loved and deeply missed by all her friends and family. Joy was born in Cardiff on June 19, 1940 during an air raid, the eldest of four children - with Jill, Alan & Philip her younger siblings. The family moved to Bargoed where she grew up. Sadly, her father died when she was just fifteen, and she had to leave school to start work in the local shop to help support her mother and family. Joy met Colin when she was 20, and three years later they were married. Two children arrived, first Jason, then Melanie. In the last ten years, Joy's life was taken up with the new joy of her grandchildren, Lewis & Carys. Joy refused to accept her illness and fought it all the way, never acknowledging that she had terminal cancer, even in her last days. Instead, she remained stoic and strong for her family, determined not to show that she was in pain or scared, she amazed everyone with her determination and strength of character. We love you so much and we miss you everyday.
